Chief's Desk

Welcome to the City of Sheboygan Falls Police Department's web page.  As an organization we are very proud to serve the Sheboygan Falls Community.  The men and women who make up the police department are consistently striving to provide the best law enforcement and community services to our community.

We are excited about our department in regards to how we approach our duties.  We have our Law Enforcement Explorer Post. The Post is for young people who have graduated from 8th grade and have not attained the age of 21.  They receive training and work with officers in the field, observing, and participating in some assignments.  We have an active Neighborhood Watch program, which encourages citizens to contact police for any residential concerns and work with us to address those concerns.  For our business owners we offer Business Security Surveys to assist with assessing their unique security needs.  The community as a whole enjoys seeing a more interactive police force with our emphasis on foot patrols, bicycle patrol, and business visits.

Internally, the Department continues to focus on providing our officers with knowledge, skills, and abilities to enthusiastically participate in our profession.  In conjunction with the most up to date tactical and skills training, we emphasize preparation in values, principles and ethics.  As Chief I am committed to providing the educational tools necessary for our officers to effectively and efficiently serve you.  In January of 2006 all employees of the Department took the Police Oath of Honor.  Police employees who are committed to the highest of ethical standards voluntarily take the Oath, printed at the end of this message.

I would like to take this opportunity to briefly introduce myself.  My name is Steven Riffel and I have been Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety since March of 2003.  Prior to being appointed Chief I served as the Sheboygan Falls Police Captain for six years.  Prior to my service in Falls I was with West Bend Police Department.  I served in a variety of capacities at West Bend including my last assignment as a Watch Commander.  I am a veteran of the United States Air Force where I served as a Security Police Explosive Detector Dog Handler.  I have undergraduate and graduate degrees in management.  I am also a graduate of the 211th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA.

I encourage anyone who would like to speak with me to contact me at the Sheboygan Falls Police Department with any questions, concerns, or suggestions you might have.  Again, I would like to welcome you to our web site and Department.

Sincerely,

Steven J. Riffel
