Information
If you are issued a
citation by the City of Sheboygan Falls Police Department. The date and
time written on your citation is the initial court date. The Municipal Court
office is located at the City of Sheboygan Falls City Hall (2nd floor), 375
Buffalo Street, Sheboygan Falls, WI.

COURT APPEARANCE INFORMATION
If you are REQUIRED
to appear or if you wish to appear in court to plead "guilty" or
"no contest" before the Municipal Judge, YOU MUST APPEAR AT THE
SHEBOYGAN FALLS CITY HALL at the date & time noted on your citation.
ENTERING A PLEA
"Not Guilty"
Plea
If you enter a plea of
"NOT GUILTY", your case will be scheduled for a Pretrial Conference
with the prosecuting attorney. If the case is not resolved at the
Pretrial, the case will then be scheduled for a Trial to the Court. Be
advised that if you plead "NOT GUILTY", your case will not be heard
at your initial court date; instead you will be given a new court date.
All Pretrial Conferences are MANDATORY COURT APPEARANCES.
To plead "Not
Guilty" do ONE of the following:
1. Mark
"Not Guilty" on the municipal court procedure handout and mail to:
Sheboygan Falls Municipal
Court, P.O. Box 186, Sheboygan Falls, WI 53085 OR fax the form to
(920) 467 - 2847. You will be notified of your new court date by U.S.
Mail approximately one week after the initial court appearance date.
DO NOT APPEAR FOR COURT UNTIL YOU ARE NOTIFIED TO DO SO;
2. Go to
the Municipal Court office located at the Sheboygan Falls City Hall (2nd floor)
and complete a Not Guilty Plea form and you will receive a new court date
immediately.
3. Appear
at the Sheboygan Falls City Hall at the date & time noted on your citation
to plead "Not Guilty". You will receive a new court date at
that time.
*NOTE: A "Not
Guilty" plea made by #1 or #2 above must be received no later than one day
prior to your initial court date.
"Guilty" or
"No Contest" Plea.
If you do not wish to
contest your citation, complete the municipal court procedure handout and mail
to:
Sheboygan Falls Municipal Court, P.O. Box 186, Sheboygan
Falls, WI 53085.
*NOTE: To avoid any
additional costs, your payment must be received at the Municipal Court office
on or before the court date noted on the citation. If you fail to pay
your citation by the court date and do not appear for court, the Court will
enter a "no contest" plea on your behalf (default judgment). A
default notice will be mailed to you and a $5.00 default fee will be added to
your fine.
JURY DEMANDS
If you have been charged
with a violation of Operating While Intoxicated or Operating With a Prohibited
Alcohol Concentration, you are entitled to a Jury Trial on a plea of not
guilty. You must file a written request for a jury trial within ten (10)
days of your initial court date. You must also pay the required jury fee
and post the bond amount noted on your citation. If you fail to comply
according to Wisconsin Statutes, your case will be scheduled for a Pretrial
Conference and then a Trial to the Court if the case is not resolved at
Pretrial.
PAYMENT INFORMATION
If you are mailing your
payment to the Municipal Court, make your check or money order payable to
"Sheboygan Falls Municipal Court". If paying in person, you can
pay with a check or money order or cash. Office hours: Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. You may drop off your
payment at the outside drop box, (labeled Municipal Court) next to the City Clerk's office Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
when the court office is closed.
If the citation you
received includes restitution, i.e., worthless checks, retail theft, damage to
property, your payment will have to be in the form of a money order or cash (no
checks).
